"Great; Especially for Gaming" 2010-04-10
By N. Madrigal (modesto,california usa)
This TV is great. I have owned a Vizio and a Sharp HDTVs and both were blown away by this Sony. I bought it only for my Ps3. The picture is great(like any other HDTV), but what separates this TV from the rest are its wide range of colors. They make every game look stunning and vivid. A special look that not the average HDTV has.
So if you are going to use this for gaming, you don't need to spend an extra $200 for a 120Hz TV. It's great as it is and I'm hoping it'll last many years. I guess I really can say that it's in Sony's HDNA!!

"Good TV, ok as a Monitor." 2010-03-18
By A. Lin (SF USA)
The main reason I brought this TV is because I don't have to spent big dollars to buy a 32" monitor. This is the only 32" Sony available in US with PIP around this price. I can now work on my PC and watch the news at the same time. For gaming and Movies, I am using HDMI for the best quality. I don't care about the speakers because I have my 7.1 surround system. Many reviewers complain about the V and S series because they have weak speaker, but I really don't get what they expect from a 10-watt TV speaker.

I can't even recall the number of the Sony I owned, but I have always been a Sony fan. As for this TV, there are some pros and cons, it all depends on your need of the TV. I would still recommend it for the price.

Pros:
-Picture quality is great as a TV. But as a monitor, average quality, not very clear even with a good performance video card. My old 23" Samsung is still better.
-Nice design, this design looks more like a monitor than a TV.

Cons:
-No clock, only a sleep timer.
-The cheapest SONY TV remote I have ever seem. I personally don't like the design at all, especially the "2 rounded circle" buttons for navigation, special features, and select enter... too packed in that area and other area of the remote is too plain.
-"Ambient sensor" is useless to me, I have to keep it off.
-Sony monitor auto off never works well with when using PC, have turn off TV manually.
-No direct PIP button on remote, have to go in Tool menu, then select..... At least button on the remote doesn't hurt.

PIP users -
If you use this monitor/TV with your PC, you might want to pay extra attention, because you cannot use HDMI with PIP to watch TV channels. Only in PC mode(or VGA) can be PIP with TV channels at the same time. But there is not much option out there anyway....

"Terrific picture quality and features, with a few sacrifices." 2010-02-26
By Vincent Nhieu (Los Angeles, CA)
Here's my simple review of this Sony TV.

General outline of features:
1080p resolution
Picture adjustments
Audio adjustments (synthetic surround sound, bass, treble)
USB device support
HDMI x4
ECO-friendly options (power save level I and II)
Ambient sensor

The picture quality is outstanding, there are numerous adjustments to make the picture look the way you want. Other adjustments include audio and settings for features. Full HD 1080p only makes it look even better. Sony advertises this TV with the "ambient" sensor that detects the lighting situation in your room so that it adjusts the backlight of the TV to compensate. I did some tests with the sensor on or off and it didn't make that much of a difference but the ambient sensor does work, it will decrease the backlight of the TV if you're in a dark room (or at night) and increase it if the room is lit up. Features also included with this TV is the ability to play music, photos and videos from a USB device which is great but I don't see myself using it. The thing that stands out with this TV set is its design. It looks like a piece of art once you remove the packaging materials. There are an influx of ports and connections on the rear and side. Component, composite, HDMI, Audio, VGA, you name it, it will have most likely have it.

My only two minor gripes about this TV is that the tuning is responsiveness of the TV's menu and tuning is fairly slow. It's not slow to the point where it bothers you but I'd say from the moment you push the channel up button on the remote until the time it actually displays the picture is around 2-3 seconds. It's not bad but its a minor gripe of mines. Another gripe I have about this TV is the price. It's certainly on the costly side for this class of TV but I believe it makes up for it in the design aspect. So if you're willing to spend a little more money to get a TV that actually looks great, this TV is a good choice.

Overall, this TV is great for the person who is willing to spend a little more money to get something that looks great without sacrificing picture quality.

"Small Projector packs just enough punch." 2010-03-30
By John Crant
I'm an Author, Career Coach and Speaker on Job Search & Career Management. I give lectures and presentations all of the time at corporate events, YMCA in NYC, at colleges and universities (for both students and alumni), and at The New York Public Library's JOB SEARCH CENTRAL.

While most of my venues do have projectors for my use (and they are VERY bright), some do not. THIS projector is PERFECT. 400 lumens. Not like daylight, for sure... but quite bright and gives you great visuals to use as a backdrop that creates a much richer feel to lectures and presentations, rather than going without that visual support. Of course, you need to develop great visuals -that goes without saying.

Negatives: Yes, the power brick is the bear. But having a projector so small is truly great and much more portable that others. Don't expect the image you would get from a much more expensive projector, or one that has thousands of lumens. That being said, this one is the right balance for my needs.

Bonus: It acts as a great home projector to add some fun on a living room or bedroom wall for movie night fun. It's 'short throw', so you get a very large picture with very little distance.

Buy again: in a heartbeat. Wish I had picked it up months ago!

"Quality of PJD2121" 2010-03-10
By Thomas C. Nowak (Indiana, Pa)
The projector works as advertised. For the price point, the picture is decent. But I had to return the unit for repair after
a month. I think the bulb expired prematurely.

"Sadly dissappointing" 2010-02-05
By G. Inashvili (The beautiful Buffalo Southtowns)
Just got it, tested it out, and got serious air let out of my tires. This is a beautifully designed product, tiny in size, next step from the pocket projectors, light, portable, plug-n-play, all that.

But when it came to picture quality, particularly color reproduction - it's not even close. Sad, since I was planning on using it for my portfolio presentation, and with at least an hour worth of adjustments and mocking around, the picture is pathetic at best. Yellows come out green, no matter how much you try to adjust, reds are too dark, some blues look strange too. And the obvious - sharpness - with the highest sharpness setting it is still not sharp enough. Not sure how hard this was to engineer, but dear Viewsonic, people need quality picture, and this one would've been an awesome product if it did.

Looking for a better alternative; we'll see what Epson and Samsung have to offer

"it should have come with its carrying case!" 2009-12-24
By Alexander Holsteinson (Dominican Republic)
The unit has a good image quality and brightness for the price but the lack of a carrying case force the user to carry with the power supply (which is large and heavy by the way), the DB9 cable, CD software and remote control elsewhere.... come on ViewSonic dont be so cheap selling a good middle class projector lacking such a basic accessory?

"wonderful, but smells terrible and mechanism is tricky" 2010-04-02
By adam sah (bay area, CA)
This screen is wonderful with a few caveats:
- the screen is giving off *terrible* fumes like a cheap carpet. It's been a few days and
we've had to put it outside until the smell subsides-- if it doesn't we're going to return it.
- the pull down/up mechanism can be hard to use (by comparison to typical blinds, for example).
- the black border is quite thick-- I wished it were thinner, or ideally there was none.

"Works good!" 2009-12-23
By Jeffry Johnston (Tucson, AZ United States)
I've had this screen for a year and a half using it multiple times a week and it still unwinds and retracts smoothly (even after my kids have let it snap back up without holding it a few times, boy that is loud!). I bought this 4x3 screen rather than the 16x9 because it was cheaper at the time, not sure if that is still the case. Even so, it works just fine 16x9, because you don't have to roll it all the way out and it has plenty of "stopping spots" to choose from. And, when I do have a 4x3 disc, I can fill the screen. The black border around the screen does a good job of hiding excess image, such as "mostly black" letterbox bars.

In my experience bug and moth splats seem to be rather difficult to clean off of the screen. So, don't swat bugs against the screen or allow them to accidentally be rolled up into it.

"Two and half years and still going good" 2008-11-28
By ramsir (Fremont, CA)
I've been using this screen nearly 2.5 yrs. We pull it down and up nearly 3-4 times a week. I am expecting a lifetime of 2-3yrs after which springs and rollers inside will start loosening up. It's still going good. Video looks good. No artificial reflections. Please be aware the 16x9 picture shown on the product page is wrong. Actual screen is 4x3.

Great product for the low price. Tried it a couple of time, I'm happy with the image on the screen and it's low profile. Don't know about
long term reliability, but it looks and feel solid.

"A Great Projection Screen if you are on a budget" 2005-11-07
By A. Merican (Scottsdale, AZ)
The Da-lite Model B Manual Pull down screen is an excellent screen for a first time projector owner looking for an affordable projection screen. The Model B 100" diagonal has nice black borders all the way around and the matte white surface provides a smooth even picture. It is very easy to install and since it is retractable, you can put it away when not in use. I also like that the matte white surface is cleanable with a soft cloth. Great buy for a home theater on a budget!
